New in OpenChair: staff prices and imported client history | 15–31 August 2026
Clearer staff prices and colour appointment timing, plus a “Client since” date that reflects earlier visits when appointment history is imported.

Clients choosing a particular stylist, barber or beauty therapist need to see the price for that person. This fortnight, we’ve improved how OpenChair carries your team’s prices into bookings, including service combos. We’ve also corrected appointment-stage timing and improved how imported history appears in client profiles. These updates are available in the web app.
Booking prices that follow the selected staff member#
The updated booking flow uses the selected team member’s configured service price. For a salon that charges different rates for a stylist and a senior stylist, the booking total follows the person chosen for the appointment.
On Pro, the Staff-Level Service Pricebook lets you set service prices for your own staff levels. This update improves how those prices carry through when a client or team member puts a booking together.
The change also covers service combos, which bring several services together in one bookable offer. OpenChair calculates each included service at the assigned staff member’s rate, then applies the combo’s configured discount proportionally.
For example, a barbershop could offer a haircut and beard trim as a combo. The total starts with the selected barber’s prices for those services, with the combo discount applied afterwards. A combo with no discount follows the staff prices without reducing them. Extra services and eligible add-ons use their own configured staff prices.
Keep colour application, processing and finishing in order#
We’ve corrected how the calendar handles appointments with active work, processing, finishing and cleanup. The stages stay in their intended order, including appointments where the stylist returns to the client after a processing gap.
For a colour-and-finish appointment, application comes first, followed by processing and then the finishing work. The calendar keeps the finishing stage and cleanup blocked as staff time. They do not become part of the processing gap.
That gives reception a more useful view when looking for another appointment: they can see when the stylist is available and when they need to return to the original client.
Eligible processing time can still accommodate compatible work, subject to the service, staff and resource requirements. A room or other resource assigned to the original booking remains occupied for the full appointment. The stylist being available during processing does not free that resource for someone else.
Let “Client since” reflect the visits before your move#
An established client’s history should not appear to start on the day you change booking systems. We’ve updated Client since to use the earliest known appointment when earlier visit history is available. Where no earlier history is available, OpenChair uses the profile’s creation date.
For example, a regular lash client may have visited your studio for years before you started using OpenChair. When those earlier appointments are included in the import, Client since reflects that supplied history rather than the day their profile was added.
Open Clients and select a profile to see Client since below the recent-visit summary. It gives the person reviewing the record a starting point for how long that client has been visiting, based on the appointment history available.
For an upcoming move, agree which historical appointments are included in your import. Our switching to OpenChair guide is a starting point for planning that move.
