New in OpenChair: AI form building and calendar controls | 1–14 July 2026
Draft salon consultation forms with AI, filter your team’s calendar and show clients your booking policies before they confirm an appointment.

You can now describe the consultation form your salon needs and get an editable draft in OpenChair. This fortnight’s web update adds AI Form Builder on Pro, more useful calendar filters and a choice of how multi-service bookings appear. We’ve also added separate booking-policy sections for clients to read before confirming an appointment.
Draft a consultation form from a short brief#
Open Forms, start a new form template and choose the AI drafting option. Describe the service and the information you need, then select Draft form. OpenChair suggests questions for you to review and edit before saving. AI form drafting uses Sparks.
For a hair colour consultation, your brief could ask for questions about recent colour services, home colouring and the result the client is hoping for. The draft gives you a starting point for that conversation. You decide which questions belong on the form and which need a discussion with the colourist.
Review the suggested fields and wording, then choose Use this draft to continue in the form editor. Make your final changes there and save the template. Generating a draft does not send it to clients.
Once saved, the template works with your existing consultation-form workflow. Use Send form from a booking or client profile, then review the signed response in the client’s Consent archive. You can return to those answers at the next appointment.
Focus the calendar on the team members you need#
The updated calendar filters let you select several team members or booking statuses together. The filter bar shows the active selections, so you can see when you are looking at part of the diary rather than the whole team. Clear the filters to return to the wider view.
At a beauty salon, reception might compare two therapists’ appointments while arranging a client’s next visit. Selecting those therapists keeps their diaries in focus without showing every team member. Status filters can narrow the view further when you need to review a particular group of bookings.
Multi-service appointments also have a clearer display choice. In Schedule display settings, use Booking cards to choose between one booking block and separate service parts.
For a colour, cut and blow-dry booked together, the parts view shows the services that make up the visit. Switch back to one block when you need an overview of the appointment. Changing the display does not change the booked services or their timing.
Show clients your booking policies before they confirm#
Owners can now organise customer-facing policies into separate sections, including cancellation, rescheduling, late arrival and before-visit information. Go to Settings > Booking settings > Booking policies to write the sections, choose which are visible and decide which require acknowledgement.
Clients see the visible sections at the booking review step. When acknowledgement is required, one checkbox covers the selected policy sections before the client confirms.
A barbershop could put arrival instructions in Before visit and keep cancellation terms in their own section. Clients can read both alongside the appointment details, and reception has the same written instructions to refer to.
OpenChair saves the visible policy text with new bookings. Confirmation messages and Manage Booking can then show the wording that applied when the client booked, even after you update your policies for future appointments.
The policy text and payment rules remain separate. Editing a paragraph does not change a deposit amount or create a cancellation fee. Keep the wording consistent with the booking-protection rules you have configured.
