Operating Hours
Set your venue's weekly opening hours for storefront display, online booking availability, and calendar shading.

TL;DR
- Owners set venue hours from Settings > Venue details > Operating hours on web.
- Mobile shows the same editor as Opening hours inside the settings identity area.
- Web changes autosave after a short delay. Mobile uses Save hours.
- Existing bookings are not cancelled or moved when hours change.
- Provider working hours still matter. A staff-led booking needs both venue hours and provider availability.
Operating hours define when the venue is open. OpenChair uses them for public booking availability, calendar non-operating-hour shading, and storefront hours. They are venue-level hours, not individual staff rosters.
Who can edit operating hours?
Only the venue Owner can edit operating hours. Staff can view the schedule but cannot change it.
Operating hours are available on all plans. Some related location controls are PRO-only, but basic weekly hours are not gated.
Where to find operating hours
On web:
- Open Settings.
- Open Venue details.
- Find Operating hours.
On mobile:
- Open Settings.
- Open Venue details.
- Find Opening hours.
The old web schedule route redirects to the current Venue details page.
Set weekly hours
Each day has an open or closed state plus an open and close time.
- Turn a day on to make it bookable.
- Set Open and Close times.
- Turn a day off if the venue is closed that day.
- Use Same hours every day when open days should share one time range.
The close time must be after the open time. Web shows Must be after open when the time range is invalid.
On web, the form autosaves after changes. If saving fails, OpenChair shows Operating hours not saved with a retry action. On mobile, tap Save hours. Mobile shows Opening hours not saved if the save fails and Operating hours updated when it succeeds.
Existing booking conflicts
If new hours reduce availability around future bookings, OpenChair warns before forcing the change.
On web, the dialog is called Bookings on changed days. It lists affected bookings and offers:
- Go Back to cancel the hour change.
- Save Changes to keep the new hours anyway.
On mobile, the alert is called Booking conflicts and asks whether to Update anyway.
Saving through a conflict keeps the bookings where they are. It does not cancel them, move them, or notify clients. Reschedule or cancel affected bookings manually if needed.
Booking locations on open days
If the venue has multiple active booking locations, every open day needs an active location. Web shows the note Assign each open day to the place clients should book.
OpenChair blocks the save when an open day is missing a location or uses an inactive location. Manage the available places from Booking locations, then return to Operating hours to assign each day.
What operating hours affect
| Area | How hours apply |
|---|---|
| Online booking | Public slots must fit within operating hours and provider availability. |
| Calendar | Times outside venue hours can be shaded as non-operating time. |
| Storefront | Public venue hours are shown from the configured weekly schedule. |
| Booking locations | Multi-location solo providers assign each open day to a place. |
| Existing bookings | Conflicts are flagged, but bookings remain scheduled. |
Common mistakes
Operating hours are not provider rosters. If the venue is open but a provider is not working, customers still cannot book that provider.
Operating hours are not a cancellation tool. Shortening hours does not clean up existing appointments. Use the conflict list to decide which bookings need manual follow-up.
Do not leave open days without a booking location when multiple active locations exist. Choose the location customers should attend for that day before saving.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Customers cannot see a slot inside venue hours | Check the provider's working hours, service duration, booking rules, and booking location for that day. |
| Must be after open appears | Choose a close time later than the open time. |
| Web says Operating hours not saved | Retry the save after checking the invalid day or missing booking-location assignment. |
| Mobile says Opening hours not saved | Check open and close times, then tap Save hours again. |
| A booking is outside the new hours | The booking remains scheduled. Open the booking and reschedule or cancel it manually. |
FAQ
How do I change my venue's operating hours?
On web, open Settings > Venue details > Operating hours. On mobile, open Settings > Venue details and edit Opening hours.
Do operating hours affect online booking?
Yes. Online booking uses venue operating hours together with provider working hours, services, booking rules, and booking locations.
What happens if I shorten hours around existing bookings?
OpenChair warns you about affected future bookings. If you save anyway, the bookings stay scheduled and need manual follow-up.
Can staff working hours extend beyond venue hours?
Provider schedules are separate, but bookable slots still need to fit the venue's operating hours.
