Account Security
Manage your account security by updating your password, controlling which sign-in methods you use, and revoking access from other devices.
Overview
Account security lets you:
- Change your password at any time from the web or the mobile app
- Link or unlink Google as an additional sign-in method (web only)
- Revoke access from all other devices by changing your password
- Request a permanent export of your data or delete your account
Changing Your Password
You need your current password to change it. If you have forgotten your password, use the reset flow described in Signing In & Account Access instead.
On the web
- Go to Settings → Security & Authentication
- Under Password, enter your Current Password
- Enter your New Password (at least 8 characters)
- Enter the same password in Confirm New Password
- Click Update Password
A confirmation message appears: "Password updated successfully".
On the mobile app
- Tap the More tab
- Tap Settings
- Tap Security (subtitle: "Password and account access")
- Under Change Password, enter your Current Password
- Enter your New Password (at least 8 characters)
- Enter the same password in Confirm New Password
- Tap Update Password
Note
Changing your password immediately signs out all other active sessions — including other browsers, the mobile app, and any remembered logins. This is the recommended action if you suspect someone else may have access to your account.
Connected Accounts
You can link Google as a sign-in method so you can sign in with either your password or your Google account.
Note
Connected accounts are managed on the web only. This setting is not available in the mobile app.
Linking Google to your account
- Go to Settings → Security & Authentication
- Under Connected Accounts, find the Google row showing "Not connected"
- Click Connect
- Authenticate with your Google account
- The row updates to show "Connected"
You can now sign in with either your password or Google.
Unlinking Google
- Go to Settings → Security & Authentication
- Under Connected Accounts, find the Google row showing "Connected"
- Click Disconnect
Warning
You cannot unlink Google if it is your only sign-in method. If you see the error "Cannot unlink your only sign-in method. Set a password first.", go to the Password card on the same page, set a password, then return to disconnect Google.
Two-Factor Authentication
Note
Two-factor authentication is not currently available in OpenChair. For account protection, use a strong unique password and change it promptly if you suspect any unauthorised access.
Signing Out of Other Devices
OpenChair does not have a standalone "sign out everywhere" button. To revoke access from all other devices, change your password following the steps above.
When your password changes, OpenChair immediately revokes all active sessions on every other device — including other browsers, the mobile app, and any remembered logins. Your current session is not affected.
Role Access
Account security settings apply to the individual user account and are available to all roles.

Troubleshooting
| Issue |
Solution |
| I don't know my current password |
Use the password reset flow. On the sign-in page, click "Forgot password?", enter your email, and follow the reset link. See Signing In & Account Access for full steps. |
| "Incorrect current password" when changing |
You may be misremembering your password. Use "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page to set a new password without needing the old one. |
| "Cannot unlink your only sign-in method" when disconnecting Google |
You signed up with Google and have not set a password. Go to Settings → Security & Authentication, set a password under Password, then return to disconnect Google. |
| I think someone else has access to my account |
Change your password immediately — this revokes all sessions on every other device. If you cannot sign in, use the "Forgot password?" flow to regain access first. |
| My email address needs to change |
Email changes are not self-service. Your current email is shown in Settings → Personal Information with the note "Contact support to change your email". Contact the OpenChair support team to request the change. |
| I need to remove a team member's access |
Offboarding a team member revokes their login immediately. See Managing Your Team. |
