Venue Settings
Configure your venue's identity, contact information, tax settings, and booking URL — the core details that appear on your storefront, invoices, and booking confirmations.
Overview
Venue settings lets you:
- Set your business name, public email, phone number, and street address
- Configure your booking URL (slug) with automatic old-URL redirection
- Select your timezone (affects calendar display, booking times, and notifications)
- Set your tax mode (prices inclusive or exclusive of GST/VAT) and tax registration number (ABN, GST No., or VAT No.)
- Control which contact details appear on your public storefront
Note
Venue settings are only accessible to the venue owner. The settings page is web-only — mobile provides a menu of links but does not yet have a native venue details editor.
Accessing venue settings
On web
Go to Settings in the sidebar, then select Venue Details (under Venue). The settings page is at /settings/identity.
The settings sidebar also provides access to other configuration pages:

| Account |

| Venue |
Venue Details, Opening Hours |
| Policies |
Cancellation & Deposits, Smart Pricing |
| Communications |
SMS & Messaging |
| Billing |

On mobile
Tap More → Venue Settings. The mobile screen shows a grouped menu of settings categories, but venue identity editing is not yet available natively — it links to the web editor.

Business name
| Field |
Details |
| Label |
"Business name" |
| Placeholder |
"e.g. The Hair Studio" |
| Max length |
100 characters |
| Validation |
Cannot be empty |
The business name appears on your storefront, booking confirmations, emails, receipts, and invoices. Changes save automatically when you click out of the field.
Booking link (slug)
Your booking URL is openchairpro.com/your-slug. To change it:
- Edit the "Booking link" field with your desired slug.
- The system checks availability in real time — a green checkmark means available, a red X means taken ("This link is already taken. Try another name.").
- Click to confirm. A dialog appears: "Change your booking link?" showing the old URL → new URL.
- Click "Change booking link" to confirm.
| Rule |
Details |
| Allowed characters |
Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only |
| Pattern |
Must match a-z0-9 with optional hyphens between words |
| Old URL handling |
Old URLs automatically redirect to the new one (stored in slug history) |
| Reuse |
Old slugs cannot be reused by other venues |
Warning
Changing your booking link affects all existing links. While old URLs redirect automatically, you should update your Google Business Profile, social media, business cards, and any directories that reference your old URL.
After a successful change, a toast notification appears: "Booking link updated" with an option to copy the new URL.
Timezone
| Field |
Details |
| Label |
"Timezone" |
| Default |
Australia/Brisbane |
| Options |
All IANA timezones — Australian and New Zealand timezones appear first, then alphabetical |
| Browser detection |
Your browser's timezone is shown with a "(detected)" label |
The timezone affects:
- Calendar display times
- Customer booking time slots
- Notification scheduling
- Booking confirmation times
The hint text reads: "Adjusting this will affect new bookings."
Contact information
The Contact Details card (heading: "Contact Details", description: "These details are used for your invoices and booking confirmations.") contains:
| Field |
Label |
Placeholder |
Validation |
| Email |
"Public Email" |
"contact@example.com" |
Must be valid email format |
| Phone |
"Phone Number" |
"(07) 1234 5678" |
Optional |
| Address |
"Street Address" |
"123 Main St, Suburb..." |
Google Places autocomplete |
Address autocomplete
The street address field uses Google Places autocomplete. When you start typing, suggestions appear. Selecting a suggestion automatically fills in the address and links your Google Place ID (used for map integrations and the Google reviews connection on your storefront).
Storefront visibility
A helper note below the contact fields reads: "You can show or hide these details on your public booking page via the Storefront settings." Contact visibility toggles (show/hide address, phone, email) are managed in the storefront editor, not on this page.
Tax and pricing
The Tax & Pricing section configures how tax applies to your service and product prices. The section heading adapts to your country: "GST Settings" (AU/NZ) or "VAT Settings" (GB).
Tax mode
Choose how your prices are set:
| Mode |
Description |
Example (AU, $100 service) |
| "My prices include GST" |
The price customers pay already includes tax |
$100 total — GST is included |
| "My prices are before GST" |
Tax is added on top at checkout |
$110 total — $100 + $10 GST |
The tax rates by country are:
| Country |
Tax |
Rate |
| Australia |
GST |
10% |
| New Zealand |
GST |
15% |
| United Kingdom |
VAT |
20% |
Tax registration number
| Country |
Label |
Placeholder |
| Australia |
"ABN" |
"12 345 678 901" |
| New Zealand |
"GST Number" |
"123-456-789" |
| United Kingdom |
"VAT Number" |
"GB 123 4567 89" |
The registration number is optional. When provided, it appears on receipts and invoices. The helper text reads: "Shown on receipts and invoices as your tax registration number."
How fields save
All fields on the venue settings page save automatically on blur (when you click out of the field). There is no "Save" button for the page — each field saves independently.
- On success: a brief toast notification confirms the update
- On error: a toast shows the failure message
The booking link (slug) is the exception — it requires an explicit confirmation dialog before saving, due to its impact on existing URLs.

Troubleshooting
| Issue |
Solution |
| Booking link shows "already taken" |
Slugs must be unique across all OpenChair venues. Try adding your suburb, city, or a number (e.g. "hair-studio-brisbane"). Old slugs from renamed venues are also reserved. |
| Business name change not reflected on storefront |
Name changes save on blur and take effect immediately. If the storefront still shows the old name, clear your browser cache or wait a few seconds for the CDN to refresh. |
| Address autocomplete not showing suggestions |
The address field requires Google Places to be loaded. Refresh the page and try again. Ensure you are typing a real street address (not just a suburb or city name). |
| Tax mode seems wrong on invoices |
Check whether your prices are set as inclusive or exclusive of GST/VAT in the Tax & Pricing section. Changing the tax mode does not change your service prices — it changes how tax is calculated and displayed on invoices. |
| Timezone is wrong |
Go to Settings → Venue Details and update the Timezone dropdown. The change affects new bookings only — existing bookings retain their original times. Your browser's detected timezone is shown with a "(detected)" label as a reference. |
| Cannot find the Settings page on mobile |
Venue identity settings are currently web-only. Tap More → Venue Settings on mobile for a menu of available settings, but use the web app for venue details, booking link, and tax configuration. |
