Ask Reports
Ask Reports helps owners and managers find the right reporting surface without memorising every report name.
Where to find it. Web: Reports -> Ask Reports. It also appears in Operating Briefing. Mobile: Reports -> Ask Reports.
TL;DR
- Ask a question such as "Why was revenue down this week?" or "Which report should I use for payroll?"
- OpenChair returns the best source report, supporting evidence, date range, and metric definitions.
- Report matching works on all plans.
- PRO venues may receive AI-written answers when Sparks are available.
- Ask Reports does not expose raw customer or appointment rows inside the answer.
- One session supports up to five turns.
What Ask Reports Does
Ask Reports turns a plain-English question into a reporting path. It can:
- recommend the best source report
- show up to three related reports
- explain why each report is relevant
- carry the selected date range into the report link
- show metric definitions beside the answer
- warn when the question asks for data OpenChair does not expose in Ask Reports
The answer panel can show headings such as Answer, Suggested reading path, Narrow the question, Data limitation, Spark balance needed, or Source reports.

Plan And Spark Behaviour
Report matching works on all plans. FREE venues can still use Ask Reports to find reports available to their plan.
PRO venues may receive AI-written answers. If Sparks are not available, Ask Reports shows the message: There are not enough Sparks to answer with AI right now. Report matching still works.
Limits
Ask Reports has deliberate limits:
- It is available to owners and managers only.
- It does not dump raw customer or appointment rows.
- It blocks questions that try to reveal prompts, bypass controls, or expose customer data.
- It asks for clarification when the question is too broad.
- It stops after five turns in a session.
