Last updated 27 July 2026
Hourly Performance shows which trading hours make money, which hours are underused, and where recurring gaps are worth filling.
Where to find it. Web: Reports -> Hourly Performance. Mobile: Reports -> Hourly Performance.
TL;DR
- Hourly Performance is a PRO report for owners and managers.
- It uses staff availability, closures, time blocks, bookings, and paid orders.
- The heatmap shows booked appointment value per available staff-hour by weekday and hour.
- The report highlights strongest windows, weakest windows, and actionable gaps.
- It needs net staff availability before it can calculate. Bookings enrich the performance view, but open hours with no bookings remain visible as capacity gaps.
- Print support is available from the web report page.
What The Report Measures
Hourly Performance focuses on capacity, not only booked revenue.
| Metric | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Booked value per available staff-hour | Attributed appointment value divided by net open staff availability |
| Utilisation | Booked time divided by available time |
| Booked value per booked hour | Attributed appointment value divided by booked staff time |
| Unbooked available time | Net available staff time that was not booked |
| Best window | The strongest weekday and hour by value per available staff-hour |
| Actionable weak windows | Recurring weak periods with enough signal to review |
Revenue is attributed appointment value, not payment received or profit. Pending, confirmed, arrived, ready-to-start, and completed appointments are allocated across their active appointment minutes. Cancelled and no-show appointments are excluded.
Available time starts with configured staff availability and overrides, then removes overlapping time blocks and venue or staff closures. When a timing snapshot exists, active and buffer minutes count as staff-busy time while stylist-free processing minutes do not.
Reading The Heatmap
The Weekday and hour pattern section shows open trading hours only. Each cell shows:
- booked value per available staff-hour
- utilisation percentage
- booked time
- available time
Closed or unavailable hours appear as empty cells. Stronger cells have higher booked value per available staff-hour.
Hourly Checks
Use Hourly checks before changing roster, campaign, or waitlist activity.
- Best trading window shows the highest-value time block.
- Largest capacity leak shows the weak window with the most unbooked available time.
- Confidence explains whether OpenChair has enough availability and booking data to trust the pattern.
Low confidence usually means availability or bookings are too sparse for a strong recommendation. Staff filtering also scopes the booking count and confidence assessment to the selected team member.
Strongest, Weakest, And Actionable Windows
The report includes three ranked sections:
- Strongest windows: high-performing weekday and hour combinations.
- Weakest windows: periods with recurring unbooked available time.
- Actionable gaps: weak windows with a suggested next step where OpenChair can link you to an action.
Use weak windows to decide whether to adjust roster coverage, promote quieter times, or use backfill outreach.
Empty States
Hourly Performance may show one of these empty states:
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Set staff availability to calculate this report | Staff availability is missing, so OpenChair cannot tell what was open |
| No open capacity in this period | Availability exists, but overrides, blocks, or closures remove it all |
| Hourly Performance unavailable | The PRO report dataset could not be loaded |
| No open hourly rows | Try a wider date range or configure staff availability |
FAQ
Who can open Hourly Performance?
Hourly Performance is a PRO report for owners and managers.
Why is Hourly Performance empty?
The report needs net staff availability in the selected period. If availability is missing, or overrides, time blocks, and closures remove it all, OpenChair cannot tell which hours were open. Open hours with no bookings still appear as capacity gaps.
What is booked value per available staff-hour?
It is attributed appointment value divided by net open staff availability for the selected period. It is not payment received or profit.
Can I export Hourly Performance?
