- Staff see My Schedule plus personal rebook and reconnect prompts when relevant.
- Time clock cards appear when time clock is enabled.
- Quiet days show No bookings today, Smooth sailing, or Nothing on your roster today.
- Shared device and kiosk modes can use Today, with write access controlled by the shared device access flow.
What Today Shows
The Today header greets the signed-in operator and lists venue, local date, appointment count, revenue, and remaining bookings when those numbers are available.
Common sections include:
| Section | Who sees it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Today overview | Everyone | Groups the main day-running content |
| Today did not load cleanly | Everyone when data fails | Shows a retry instruction while saved data remains unchanged |
| Next Up | Owners and managers | Shows the most relevant upcoming bookings and links to Full Schedule |
| My Schedule | Staff | Shows bookings assigned to the signed-in staff member |
| Today Pulse | Owners and managers | Highlights the most important occupancy, gap, waitlist, or anomaly signal |
| Team Schedule | Owners and managers | Summarises team flow when the day has bookings |
| Who's In | Owners and managers | Shows clock-in status when time clock is enabled and team schedule is not shown |
Empty And First-Run States
Today changes based on whether the venue has bookings and setup is complete.
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Your booking page isn't live yet | Staff are viewing a venue while the owner is still finishing setup |
| Your booking page is live | Setup was completed and the public booking page can be previewed |
| No bookings today | No bookings are scheduled for the current venue day |
| Smooth sailing | The day's appointments are done |
| Nothing on your roster today | A staff member has no assigned bookings |
Owners and managers can use Create a Booking on a quiet day. If the venue has active waitlist clients, they may also see View Waitlist.
Quick Actions On Mobile
Mobile Today supports quick booking status updates from appointment cards.
Available actions include:
- Marked as arrived
- Marked as ready to start
- completion with a short Undo window
If a completed booking still has a balance due, OpenChair starts checkout after the completion action.
Staff Prompts
When staff have bookings, Today can show staff-specific prompts below their schedule:
- rebook today's clients
- reconnect lapsing regulars
These are personal workflow prompts, not venue-wide reporting cards.
Shared Device And Kiosk Behaviour
Today can run in kiosk, display, or shared-device mode. In those modes:
- Today can refresh automatically.
- The kiosk header can show the active operator and lock state.
- Write actions may be hidden or require an operator claim.
- Shared-device reads use the shared-device context so access stays attributed.
