Bookable Service Combos
Create bundled services customers can book from the Services section of your storefront.
Last updated 9 August 2026
TL;DR
- Create combos from Services on web or from the native tablet catalogue workspace.
- A combo needs at least two active book-online items and at least one primary service.
- Combos appear in the public Services menu, not the prepaid packages area.
- OpenChair calculates the normal value and savings from the included services.
- You can hide the included services online when the combo is visible.
- Operators can select one visible combo plus compatible extra services and add-ons when creating a booking on management web or in the mobile app.
Bookable service combos package multiple services into one customer-bookable offer. Examples include bridal bookings, seasonal offers, or common multi-service visits.
Who can manage combos?
Venue Owners and Managers can create, edit, reorder, or archive service combos. Other staff can view catalogue details but cannot change them.
Combos are available on all plans. AI combo description writing uses Spark when enabled for the venue.
Create a combo
On web:
- Open Services.
- Select Add, then Combo.
- Add a Name and optional Category.
- Select at least two services or add-ons.
- Set the Booking order.
- Enter the Combo price.
- Choose whether to hide included services online.
- Turn on Show this combo online if it should appear on the storefront.
- Select Save combo.
On a tablet in the mobile app:
- Open Services.
- Select Add.
- Select Combo.
- Choose at least two eligible items and set the combo price.
- Select Save combo.
Phone layouts do not expose combo management. Use web or the native tablet workspace to create, edit, reorder, or archive combos. Operators can still select a visible combo when creating a booking on a phone.
Archived combos remain available under Services → Archived on web and native tablet. Restoring a combo returns it hidden at the end of Current and opens it for review before you publish it again.
The form can show Write with AI or Rewrite with AI for the combo description after enough details are selected.
Combo rules
| Rule | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Minimum items | Select at least two services or add-ons. |
| Primary service | At least one item must be a primary service, not only add-ons. |
| Service access | Items must be active, book-online services from the same venue. |
| Duplicate items | Each service can appear only once in a combo. |
| Price | The combo price cannot be higher than the normal combined value. |
| Storefront | Visible combos appear in the Services section. |
Pricing and savings
OpenChair calculates the normal value from the included services and quantities. The combo price creates the displayed saving.
If the combo price is higher than the normal value, the form shows Combo price cannot be higher than the normal service value.
Staff and booking behaviour
When a client books a combo, OpenChair expands it into the included services in the saved booking itinerary. The booking keeps combo snapshots so reporting and confirmation surfaces can explain what was booked.
When an operator creates a booking on management web or in the mobile app, combos and standalone services follow the configured catalogue and category order. Selecting a combo keeps compatible standalone selections as extras. Services already included in the combo remain visible but cannot be selected twice.
OpenChair first resolves each included service for the assigned stylist, then applies the combo's configured saving proportionally. A combo configured with no saving follows the stylist's resolved service prices exactly. Standalone extras and their eligible add-ons use their own resolved prices. The visible top-level Runbook controls whether the combo group appears before, between or after standalone items, while the combo's own components keep their configured internal order.
Recurring series remain unavailable when a combo is selected on either management web or mobile. For recurrence, choose one standalone staff-led primary service instead; its selected add-ons can remain in the Runbook.
For staff-led combos, availability still depends on providers who can perform the selected services. Resource-only combos use resource availability.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Save combo is disabled | Add a name, select at least two items, include one primary service, and enter a valid combo price. |
| A service is missing | Check that it is active, book-online, and not archived. |
| Price error appears | Lower the combo price so it is not above the normal combined value. |
| Combo does not show online | Turn on Show this combo online and confirm its items are still active. |
| Combo is missing from operator booking | Confirm the combo is visible and every included item is active, book-online, and within the plan limit. |
| Included services still show separately | Turn on Hide included services on the storefront when this combo is visible. |
| Recurring appointment is unavailable | Combo bookings cannot recur on web or mobile. Choose one standalone staff-led primary service instead. |
FAQ
What is a service combo?
A service combo is a bundle customers book as one offer. OpenChair expands it into the included services when creating the booking.
Can a combo include add-ons?
Yes. A combo can include add-ons, but it must also include at least one primary service.
Are combos the same as prepaid packages?
No. Combos are booked from the Services menu for a specific appointment. Prepaid packages sell a balance or bundle that can be redeemed later.
Can I make a service combo recurring?
No. Recurring series are unavailable for combo bookings on both management web and mobile. Choose one standalone staff-led primary service instead; its selected add-ons can recur in the same visible Runbook order.
