- New Zealand is email-only. SMS campaigns are not available there.
Requirements
Email campaigns require an active Pro subscription.
- Australia: supported
- United Kingdom: supported
- New Zealand: supported
New Zealand is email-only, so SMS campaigns are not available there.
Create a campaign
Create an email campaign from the Campaigns section on web or mobile.
Web
- Open Campaigns.
- Click Create Campaign.
- Choose Email.
- Enter a campaign name.
- Pick an audience.
- Write the subject line and email body, or use Write with AI.
- Preview the email.
- Send now or schedule it.
Use the web Email content editor to add campaign blocks, venue-backed service or review content, and reusable Brand Blocks. See Campaign Content Editor and Brand Blocks for the block picker, source-backed content, tests, and saved sections.
Use the web builder Promotion section to attach an existing discount code or create one inline. See Campaign Discount Codes for discount-code tokens, booking links, and promotion impact reporting.
AI subject line ideas
The web email builder can suggest subject lines from the current campaign goal, campaign name, subject, venue name, category, and Brand Voice persona.
- Open the web email campaign builder.
- Go to the Subject line field.
- Click the sparkle icon labelled Write subject ideas with AI.
- Wait for the loading state to finish.
- Click a suggested subject line to apply it to the Subject line field.
- Click Try again if you want a fresh set of suggestions.
The subject field accepts up to 200 characters. OpenChair shows a character counter and warns when the subject is longer than 60 characters because some inboxes may truncate it.
Mobile
- Open More -> Campaigns.
- Tap Create Campaign.
- Choose Email.
- Fill in the campaign name, audience, subject, and body.
- Add or reorder native content blocks if needed.
- Send now or schedule for later.
Web and mobile use the same content-block format. Mobile editing is fully native and supports headings, text, buttons, images, dividers, spacing, booking links, promotions, openings, service and team spotlights, reviews, portfolio sections, and branded headers and footers.
Switching between Email, SMS, and Email + SMS keeps the content you already entered for the other channel.
Audience preview and scheduled-sends queue
Before send, the audience preview card shows:
- Total eligible recipients
- Sendable count after bounce / blocked / unsubscribe / recently-messaged filters
- Sample first names
- Per-send cost inside the Send button (typically zero for email within the 2,000/month allocation; overage rates only kick in past included)
Sends over 50 recipients require a hold-to-confirm gesture (~600ms press-and-hold).
After tap, the campaign queues for a 30-second cancel window with countdown and Cancel button. Server-side cron worker fires the send if you close the tab - campaign goes out either way. Customers who book between queue and fire are dropped from the audience automatically.
Assistant win-back
OpenChair Assistant can draft and queue email win-back campaigns to lapsed clients on PRO (Assistant Actions & Backfill). Same underlying queue, same recently-messaged dedup, same 90-day per-wave cap - the difference is Assistant does the drafting and audience-resolution for you.
Included usage
Pro includes 2,000 campaign emails per month in supported markets.
When you go over the included amount, additional sends are charged to the wallet at the normal regional overage rate.
Marketing unsubscribe links
Marketing email recipients can use the campaign unsubscribe link to stop future promotional messages from the venue.
When a recipient opens a valid unsubscribe link, OpenChair marks the customer as opted out of reconnect and marketing outreach. Later campaign audience previews exclude that customer from sendable recipients.
The unsubscribe page can show:
| Page title | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unsubscribed | The customer was found and is now opted out of marketing emails. |
| Already Unsubscribed | The customer was already opted out, so no further change was needed. |
| Invalid Link | The link is missing required details or the token is invalid or expired. |
| Not Found | OpenChair could not find the matching subscription for that venue and customer. |
Marketing unsubscribe is separate from booking confirmations, appointment reminders, receipts, and direct replies. It is also shared with SMS campaign suppression, so a customer who opts out from a marketing email is excluded from later promotional SMS campaigns too.
Troubleshooting
The following issues are common when setting up email campaigns.
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Campaign composer shows an upgrade prompt | The venue needs an active Pro subscription. |
| No eligible customers | Recipients need a valid email and must not be bounced, blocked, or unsubscribed. |
| Campaign paused | Check wallet balance for overage coverage. |
| Delivery failures | Check recipient addresses and review the failed count. |
FAQ
Why does the email campaign composer show an upgrade prompt?
The venue needs an active Pro subscription to create and send email campaigns. Owners can upgrade from Settings → Plan & billing.
Why are no customers eligible for my email campaign?
Recipients must have a valid email address and must not be bounced, blocked, or unsubscribed. Review the client list to check each recipient's contact status.
Why is my campaign paused?
Check your wallet balance, campaigns pause when there is insufficient balance to cover overage costs beyond the included monthly allocation.
Can I see opens or clicks?
No. OpenChair does not currently ingest reliable email open or click events, so campaign screens do not present those figures. Reporting is limited to evidence the system has: recipients, sent messages, provider-confirmed email delivery where available, failures, unsubscribes, and booking or promotion outcomes.
How do I remove an old campaign?
Archive it from the campaign list or detail screen. Draft, sent, and failed campaigns can be restored, and the immediate archive confirmation includes Undo. Scheduled, sending, and paused campaigns must be resolved before they can be archived.
